Horseback Riding

I love horses! I believe they are beautiful, intelligent and an all around amazing animals. Unfortunately, having grown up in the city I did not have much of chance to learn to ride or even spend a lot of time with them.

I have however ridden a couple  of times while on holiday. As such, for my birthday hubbie gave me a voucher for a horse riding experience, a 2.5 hours trail in the Gold Coast Hinterland.

When we arrived at Bonogin Valley Horse Retreat we were actually surprised to find that their horses, even though gentle animals, are not the typical tamed holiday horses which simply take you for a ride. You actually have to be a somewhat experienced rider to take them out in a trail, and you need to know how to control the horse quite well.

Deb was very nice and expressed her concerns openly in regards to our inexperience. We were truly appreciative as we would not want to take any chances and would not want to put the horses or ourselves at risk.

My horse was a bit stubborn and it was not always easy to get him to do what I wanted him to, but I eventually got the hang of it. Hubbie rode a gentler female and was looking like a pro at the end of the lesson. We shall be returning soon and who knows where this experience will lead us 😀
